Colonne place Vendôme

2007

A project often says a lot about an artist's political point of view.

Roberto Platé imagined rebuilding the Vendôme column... but on the ground. A way of commemorating its fall during the Paris Commune of 1871.
A struggle waged by the workers, craftsmen and laborers of Paris.

With the help of his good friend Jacques Rouveyrollis - a major figure in stage lighting in France - he also planned to make the actual column “disappear”, through a subtle play of light.
